About the Role
As manager of the Advocacy Department, you will be tasked with spearheading our advocacy efforts as
an organisation. You will be our point of reference for all matters of advocacy development, report
development, and advocacy best practices. The key outputs are as follows:
Strategic direction for the advocacy output of each programme: This involves working with the relevant
Programme Managers and advocacy and communications officers (ACOs) to develop relevant and
effective advocacy. This requires supporting teams with training, offering ad hoc guidance and managing
the overall development of advocacy reports. This is the most time consuming output of the contract.
Networking with regional and international advocacy partners: This involves building and maintaining
relations with regional level change makers and advocacy stakeholders, exploring joint-projects and
campaigns. This can require confidence engaging with BVMN, EU and UN mechanisms and reporting on
regional developments and trends. This is the second most time consuming output.
Supporting programmes to engage with local advocacy partners: This involves advising programmes
teams who are themselves leading local and national level media enquiries, advocacy engagements and
advocacy partnerships. This requires confidence offering targeted strategic advice, media training and
partnership advice as support to our programmes. This is the least time consuming output.
